If one repents an changes their old sinful ways, they have gone against the flesh man. Perhaps they may appear hypocritical at first, but one has to start somewhere, right? You stick with what's right, and shun what is "wrong," living by the Spirit instead of the flesh. It takes a lot of work.
Christianity is not about saying"lord lord" and you are considered "saved." It is not outward signs such as praying just so that everyone can see you praying, or fasting and telling everybody you are fasting for the Lord. These have received their reward already. For those of us who pray secretly and do good without expecting repayment, not just to have an outward appearance of "godliness," our reward is in Heaven. The kind of reward that does not die or corrode.
Ultimately, it is the individual who has to decide to choose whether or not to walk in the Spirit. Everyone can do it, and it is difficult for everyone, not just "I." "I" is narcissistic and self important, perhaps even self-righteous. Leave all that behind and serve the One, True, Living God!
Be blessed!
