This will be my last posting today; the typing is deteriorating!!
Flying Stars are 90 - 95% accurate in their assessments. It takes some years before all of the information finally falls into place and then becomes relatively simple. (Like most things!!) :)
There are the nine stars. But, they 'fly' in a specific pattern and combine to become specific predictable units within sectors of the building.
We have 9 Water Dragons which represent Wealth and they enter the house in the same way that water would get into your house -- through cracks, windows and doors. They travel on the floors. That is why we use fountains to activate the good Wealth stars; those Dragons love to travel on water. If there is no window or door where there is a good Wealth star, it is stopped from entering the building.
We have 9 Mountain Dragons which represent Health and they enter the walls of the house and sit and breathe on you. If there is a window where there is a good Health star, then water is drowning the poor Dragon and he cannot help; however, if he is a bad Earth Dragon, then a window there can be a good thing because it makes him powerless.
Thirdly, we have Time stars. There are 9 of these also, one in each sector as well as in the centre. The Time star determines whether Wealth or Health will work for you in a particular sector.
Within each sector, there are three stars: ms-ts-ws
Suppose that 2-9-8 are at your front door.
The 2 is the Mountain Dragon and is the Health star; it is also the sickness star.
The 8 is the Water Dragon and is the Wealth star; it is the best Wealth star of this next 20 years.
The 9 is the Time star and is Fire; it determines what happens with the other two stars.
Now, at your front door, you are concerned with the Wealth star ONLY -- because Water is rushing in and it paralyzes that lousy 2 sickness star which is Earth and is controlled by Water. This 8ws is the best Wealth. It is Earth. It is a Water Dragon and moves into the house through the front door. The Time star is Fire; Fire nourishes Earth; therefore, the Wealth star will be very effective in this house because it is supported by the Time star. By putting a fountain at the spot, inside the house, this water activates the Water Dragon (even 'though it is an Earth element, it is a Water star) and sets it going in the house.
Having a great Wealth star like this entering the home, most problems will be taken care of because the 8 qi is so powerful in these twenty years; there are a couple of bad stars which must be addressed and some other fine tuning that must be done.
But, without this star's entering your home in this Period 8, you would not have access to Wealth and you would find that you are spending more without gaining.
Each sector is examined and corrected as well as can be done; balance is the key.
That is the basic of Flying Stars. Over time, their personalities come to life and work in the complex equation as well.
There are 9 Periods, each with 24 charts (16 different charts, plus 8 duplicates). That is a total of 216 charts, 144 of them being distinctly different from each other; there are Fortunate houses, Unfortunate houses, etc., etc. A fascinating study!
I hope that these postings have given you some insight into Feng Shui and how it works. There is definite energy that works within the building. It does not need intention; that is a separate issue.
The Chinese have been observing the Earth for many centuries; their I Ching is the oldest book on the planet. The 64 trigrams (three-lined symbols) actually form the DNA spiral (poor term, but it will do.) They understand how energy works outside us and inside us!
