it depends on the Qi map of your home.
a fish tank is a "water" element & some homes may not
even need one or, at least there may be a location
that would not cause anything negative to happen.
we are affected by the Qi in the rooms that we spend
the most time in, second only to the Qi mouth of our front
doors. With that in mind, i would reccomend that you place
your tank in place that you do not spend too much time in,
such as your bedroom or home office.

I can see that this board can be confusing for many people since there are several schools of FS being expressed. The best is to follow one school's principles and not to mix and match them. Each school has a reason for those principles; to use principles from two or three different schools at the same time would probably just negate everything.

I am from the school which studies the Flying Stars; it is the most sophisticated of the schools. Moving water is considered to be a yang qi and should be used to activate a Wealth star; primarily, it should be placed in a yang space. Your bedroom is considered to be a yin space -- a quiet space and you do not want your sleep disturbed by the yang energy.

If you do place your tank in an area with bad stars, you will know very quickly -- you will lose money in some way (extra expenses, etc.) or you may become ill, have arguments, etc. Just move the tank. If you should have some increased fortune when you place your tank in a space, then you have probably placed it where there is a good Wealth star and the tank then activates this qi for your benefit.
