Hi all,
K2 has taken me to a new level of good health I never dreamed of. I experimented
for several days with it and here is how I take it.
I take 15 mg of K2 in the morning, only, with 125 mg of 5% elemental
Iodine and 300 mcg of the selenomethionine. I also take 1 teaspoonful of coconut oil.
I absolutely never take Vitamin E at the same time as the K2.
4 to 5 hours later I take 300 mcg of selenomethionine, 125 mg of iodine, and a fourth of a teaspoon of coconut oil. I repeat this one more time but I add 200 iu's of vit. E
At bedtime I take 90 mg of iodine, 300 mg of selenomethionine, 10000 iu's of vitamin A
2000 mcg of vitamin D3, 1200 mg of Calcium, 250 mg of magnesium taurate. In addition I paint 20 mg on the love pouch and 10 mg above the prostate area.
I paint the left side one night and the right side the next day.
Another benefit of K2 in this area has surprised me with a libido benefit I haven’t experienced since my teens to my thirties…
I have stated today trying to integrate Vitamin C 1000 mg every four hours in between
Iodine sessions.
So with this routine I can sit on my Crane for 12 hours and be as awake as a hoot owl on a tree limb. I never get that fatigued feeling.
My energy levels stay high as long as I don’t ingest bread!
As to K2, wow my teeth and gums feel smooth and glossy. the biggest surprise has been
my sinuses. I can lay my head on the bed and breathe clearly. The inside of my nose feels
smooth. I have had sinus trouble for years but no more! One word of warning though,
a friend offered me a hi-potency vitamin/mineral pill and something in it clogged my nose for about 4 hours. It finally cleared up. I don’t have the time to try to figure
out what was in the pill. But I know that is what caused it.
By taking K2, and the vitamin E/cocanut oil detox regimen I have doubled my intakeof elemental
Iodine to 500 mgs a day!
A good article below on sinuses based on Dr. Silkman DDS, who admired Dr. Weston Price. Also important to take a calcium/ magnisium suppliement while doing K2. Some people on different blogs complain of sinus disconfort while doing K2. I would bet my last dollar they are on a hi potency vitamin/mineral as I described. And something in it caused their discomfort.
I leave you with my favorite 2 sayings by other people.

Vitamin K2 is the substance that makes the vitamin A- and vitamin D-dependent proteins come to life. While vitamins A and D act as signaling molecules, telling cells to make certain proteins, vitamin K2 activates these proteins by conferring upon them the physical ability to bind calcium. In some cases these proteins directly coordinate the movement or organization of calcium themselves; in other cases the calcium acts as a glue to hold the protein in a certain shape.33 In all such cases, the proteins are only functional once they have been activated by vitamin K.

Megadose K2: Safety
The high dose of 45 mg K2 daily has been used in dozens of human studies, many lasting one to two years. Many of these studies emphasize the safety of K2. “Administration of menatetrenone [MK4/K2] was well tolerated. Given the absence of toxicity, menatetrenone can be recommended for all patients with MDS-RA.”45 “The adverse events were 2 cases of mild skin rash [out of 43 patients] which subsided after cessation of medication.”16 “menatetrenone can be used safely for [at least] 1 year in CAPD patients.”17 “No adverse effects of vitamin K2 were noted.”19 “No adverse effect was observed.”30
One concern some people might have with high-dose K2 is that it might cause “overcoagulation” of the blood. The 1997 rabbit study previously mentioned specifically noted that “The excessive dose of vitamin K2…did not promote the coagulative tendency in the rabbits.”41
The one caution in using high-dose K2 is the use of warfarin (Coumadin®) anticoagulant therapy. Anyone taking warfarin or other similar “blood-thinning” drugs must NOT use high-dose K2. Indeed, such patients are usually counseled to avoid even high K1-containing foods, such as green vegetables, since warfarin works by opposing vitamin K’s blood coagulation effects.
More on K2 and Bone Health
K2 has been used clinically to treat other forms of osteoporosis with success as well. K2 has successfully prevented the bone loss that normally occurs in kidney dialysis patients.17,18 K2 stopped bone loss in liver cirrhosis patients.19 In an 11-month study of recovering anorexia patients, K2 cut bone loss 60 percent compared to the control group.20 In a 12-month study of 120 female Parkinson’s disease patients, the fracture incidence in the K2 group was only 10 percent of the control group’s fracture rate!21 K2 also increased bone mineral density and reduced the fracture rate in a 12-month study of 108 stroke patients with one-sided paralysis.22
In 2004 another Japanese research group found that K2 inhibits the growth and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells both in vitro and in vivo. Giving K2 to “mice inoculated with liver tumor cells reduced both tumor growth and body weight loss.”36 In July, 2004, the first human clinical trial results were announced in JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association). Forty women diagnosed with viral liver cirrhosis between 1996 and 1998 were randomly assigned either to a group receiving 45 mg K2 daily or the control group. By the end of the study, two of 21 women given K2 had developed liver cancer, while nine of 19 control group women had developed liver cancer. The results were found to be statistically significant, and a role for K2 in preventing liver cancer was proven.37
K2: Your Arteries’ Best Friend?
Animal studies have shown that K2, but not K1, can inhibit the calcification of arterial plaque. As a recent review notes: “Calcification of the vessel walls is one of the features of atherosclerosis and is by itself considered to be a risk factor for plaque rupture.”38 And plaque rupture in a heart artery is often the final trigger for a (possibly fatal) myocardial infarction (heart attack). A 1996 study found that high-dose K2 inhibited the increase in aortic or kidney calcium induced by megadose synthetic vitamin D2. The authors noted that “a pharmacological dose of vitamin K2 might have a usefulness for the prevention and treatment of arteriosclerosis with calcification.”39 A 1999 study found that high-dose K2 could inhibit the increase in aortic calcium in rats made arteriosclerotic by high-dose D2 and an atherogenic diet.40
K2: Anti-Aromatase?
One intriguing study on male rats suggests that K2 might be useful in suppressing the excess estrogen all too common in aging men. When aging male rats were fed a calcium-deficient diet, their serum estradiol levels rose 430 percent. K2 significantly reduced the elevated estrogen levels. The estrone level in serum of the K2-fed rats fell to a level lower than the control rats fed a regular calcium diet. The study’s authors suggest that K2 suppressed testicular aromatase in calcium deficient rats, reducing estrogen production, and that the increased estrogen production in the calcium-deficient rats not given K2 might be a compensating mechanism to prevent osteoporosis.44 This in turn suggests that the frequent elevation of estrogen seen in aging men might be the body’s way of preventing osteoporosis, which is more common in women than men. Taking high-dose K2 just might suppress male aromatase activity, suppressing male estrogen overproduction, yet still prevent osteoporosis.

We now know that the growth and mineralization of the dentin that Price observed in response to the combination of cod liver oil and Activator X concentrate would primarily require three essential factors: vitamins A, D, and K2. There are three calcified tissues of the teeth: the cementum forms the roots, the enamel forms the surface, and the dentin forms the support structure beneath it. Cells called odontoblasts lining the surface of the pulp just beneath the dentin continually produce new dentin material. If a cavity invades the dentin and reaches these cells they can die. The pulp tissue, however, contains stem cells that can differentiate into new odontoblasts that could regenerate the lost dentin if the right conditions were present.54
Dentin is unique among the tissues of the teeth for its expression of osteocalcin, a vitamin K-dependent protein better known for its role in organizing the deposition of calcium and phosphorus salts in bone. In the infant rat, whose teeth grow very rapidly, dentin manufactures much more osteocalcin than bone does, suggesting that osteocalcin plays an important role in the growth of new dentin. Matrix Gla protein (MGP), which is required for the mineralization of bone, is also expressed in dentin.55 Vitamins A and D signal odontoblasts to produce osteocalcin,56,57 and probably regulate their expression of MGP as well. Only after vitamin K2 activates these proteins' ability to bind calcium, however, can they lay down the mineral-rich matrix of dentin. The remarkable synergy between these three vitamins exactly mirrors the process Price observed.

Breathing through the nose creates an avenue of air that’s moisturized, humidified and even somewhat filtered. Furthermore, when we breathe through our nose, the air passing through the nasal airway and contacting the turbinates–shelf- like bony structures–is slowed down. This allows the proper mixing of the air with an amazing gas produced in the nasal sinuses called nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is secreted into the nasal passages and is inhaled through the nose. It is a potent vaso-dilator, and in the lungs it enhances the uptake of oxygen. NO is also produced in the walls of blood vessels and is critical to all organs.
Due to the lack of proper oxygenation, the ability to deliver fully oxygenated blood to the cells is also much reduced. Thus mouth breathing has a negative effect on every cell in the body as it deprives them of oxygen. Overall wellness and health requires proper oxygen as every particle of our being requires oxygen. Cancer cells, by the way, are anaerobic by design. Other manifestations of mouth breathing include snoring and cessation of breathing (also known as sleep apnea), some types of headaches, hypertension without other known clinical causes, bed wetting, chronic ear or sinus infections, TMJ pain, sleep disorders and dark patches under the eyes.

Vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and warfarin regulate bone metabolism in human paranasal sinus bones.
Full Abstract
Several recent studies have indicated that the paranasal sinus bones undergo pathophysiological changes in patients with chronic sinusitis. We examined the mineralization activity of osteoblasts and the production of osteocalcin and cytokines in cultured human osteoblasts derived from ethmoidal bones treated with vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and warfarin to investigate the metabolic effects of these treatments on paranasal sinus bones. In the bones treated with vitamin D3 plus vitamin K2, osteocalcin production and the ratio of the mineralization of osteoblasts were increased. Warfarin inhibited the promotive effects of vitamin K2 in the presence of vitamin D3. With regard to TGF-beta production, there was quite a difference in response depending on the isoforms. In conclusion, we have demonstrated that these vitamins and warfarin may be useful in improving bone metabolism in paranasal sinus bones, and may additionally improve the pathogenesis of chronic sinusitis.

Stephan,
Thanks for continuing on K2 subject! You have done a lot of work, I realize how much time it must be costing you. You could write a book. 8-:)
I think a discovery of the nutritional importance of K2 (and D3) and fetal toxicity of wheat is probably the most important side effect of the low carb dieting trend. I am curious about the so prevalent myopia in our society and have a suspicion that it may have also something to do with those issues, during eye development stage in infancy.
As you mentioned, brain and organ meat are some of the best sources of K2 (and other essential nutrients). Mind you, it is illegal in Canada. Fortunately, we can still buy pork brains illegally from the Chinese.
I should point out that beef and pork tongues are also excellent rich sources of K2 (salivary glands contain most of it).
I can fully confirm the astounding effect of a diet very high in animal produce and low in plants, on my teeth. My tooth decay has totally stopped! I wrote about that before but it is worth repeating: - my teeth would not decay even if mechanically damaged, broken in half etc. The broken exposed parts of a tooth, even if the core is open, just seals itself over time.

Insufficient vitamin D intake or excess phosphorus and magnesium hinders the uptake of calcium. Although heavy exercising also hinders calcium uptake, moderate exercising contributes to its uptake. A diet that is high either in protein, fat, or
Sugar also affects calcium uptake. The average American diet of meats, refined grains, and soft drinks (high in phosphorus) leads to increased bone loss in adults. Foods such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, which contain significant amounts of calcium but lower amounts of phosphorus, should be consumed.
Several vitamin companies use D1-calcium-phosphate, but do not list it on the label. This form of calcium interferes with the absorption of the nutrients in a multi supplement.
Test your brand of calcium to assure absorption. Place the calcium pill in a glass of warm water and shake. If the calcium does not dissolve within twenty four hours, change to another brand or form.
