Hello Waldo!
So...I just had to mention the whole chiron, wounded healer thing because the area you mentioned is ruled by him. The thighs and whole hip area is also ruled by the sign Sagittarius. (it's funny, I've found that Sagittarians, or people with a prominent planet in Sagittarius usually can pop their hip out a bit - I can, I'm a Sag - in this weird way. They also have to be careful of their hip area)
Anyway, because I just see the world as one by Symbol, I really can't help but wonder if you have a significant Chiron transit, or a transit that is affecting a possible Sagittarian planet of yours...? Hmmmmm! You may want to slip me your birth info (time, place, date) so I can take a quick look! ilsa88@excite.com
Anyway....I'll just tell a little about Chiron and you (and others) can see if this fits at all.
Everyone has the 'planetoid' Chiron in their natal chart...some people's are more prominent than others, though. Wherever Chiron falls in your chart, shows where you have a wound. It's not all bad! Chiron is the wounded healer. Because of his own wound, he learns all he can to heal himself and through gaining all this knowledge and wisdom he helps to heal others...or helps them to heal themselves. So he is also your Inner Guide.
Here is the mythical story of Chiron, who was a centaur...
The Centaurs were a great bunch (of course I say this: I'm a Sagittarian, ruled by the Centaur aiming his arrow at the stars!). The Centaurs were bawdy. They had fun, drank....were half animal and half man. They need to find a balance between their animal instincts, desires - Body - and their philosophical Mind. Some Sagittarians spend too much time in either of these places: sitting and reading and philosophizing or out about about fulfilling their active animal nature.
Anyway, in the myth...the gods and goddesses were wary of the Centaurs...you never knew if you could trust them...they were a crazy bunch. I forget which goddess it was...but she wanted to cross a river. Chiron was there, in all his animal glory and offered to take her across on his back. She eyed him, then felt she could trust him, so got on his back...they made their way across the river. A God came along and saw the Goddess on the back of a Centaur and thought something was up, so he shot him in the hip with his arrow, wounding him badly. Poor Chiron limped up to a cave and stayed there reading and reading, trying to figure out how to heal himself. Soon many people started to come and see him because he had gained sooo much knowledge. He had turned into a wise old sage and healer, who shared his knowledge with all that came...
Now...if your hip/thigh area is aching and hurting it just might be an indication or reminder of a deep wound. You may even be healing the wound. It's a chance to check this out, anyway. Maybe your philosophy of life has undergone a change. Someone your philosophy has actually changed the Structure of your life...it's manifesting in the real world now, instead of just growing as an idea....? Maybe your philosphy is healing an old wound....?
Those are just a few ideas, Waldo!

Keywords for Chiron, for those of you interested in what Chiron means in your own natal chart:
HEALING/WHOLEMAKING: There are differences in opinion over exactly what constitutes a healing, but I use it to describe both the restoration of balance, and the process leading to make one whole. Thus, it is not just the removal of some undesirable condition, but a much deeper, more involved process. A healing can also take place on a larger scale, such as healing a rupture that has occurred in a relationship, or a division that has taken place in a group or organization. And thus healing need not be thought of only in medical terms, but on any level.
QUEST: This is an important key. It is the root from which we get the word question, and has as its essence a seeking after truth. Along with this come romantic images conjured up from great, oft-told myths and tales. Thus the word also has come to connote a transformation that occurs in the Questor as a result of pursuing his quest.
GUIDE: This is someone, or something, which helps to lead or direct someone on a course they are taking, or in the proper direction to reach their goal. It is important to realize that a guide need not be a living being. It can be a spirit, or even some inanimate object, or the words of someone coming to one from a book.
KEY: This is something that enables one to gain access to someplace, or to something, but it is also a means of preventing such access. It can be that one small piece of information, that enables one to understand the solution to a problem. What is most important about a Key is the recognition of its existence. Before one realizes a Key exists one may not believe there is any solution to a problem---or, one may not even recognize that a problem exists. But once the Key is discovered the first step in the solution has been taken.
DOORWAY: A doorway is, in effect, not belonging to either world. Take the doorway of a house. If you are outside, you cross through to go in, while if inside, you cross through to go out. While the door may be part of the house, and block entrance or exit when closed---the doorway itself is totally neutral. It belongs to both worlds--- or neither, depending on your point of view. If you think of the walls of the house as being Saturn, the insides of the house as being the inner planets, and the outside of the house represented by Uranus, Neptune and Pluto---then the doorway itself can be seen as Chiron.
*Oh and, as with dreams, it's the 'Ah-HA!' experience that we're looking for. The revelation about oneself that accelerates one's growth.*
