Hello,
I get painful skin every once in awhile, sometimes in multiple places at once or in sequence. The pain is just at the surface - when I press down into it, the muscle doesn't hurt, so it really is no deeper than the surface layer of skin. It feels like a stinging or a burning sensation and increases upon touching it, whether by hands or clothes. Even spraying liquids on it hurts.
What's odd is there is no physical evidence of the pain. No rash, redness, swelling, nothing.
I've experienced it all over my body throughout the years, but it's always in a limited area, splotches on limbs or back or face, etc. It usually goes away after several days, after appearing on a few different places. Right now I have it on my entire inner right thigh and the inside of my right bicep. Two days ago it was on my left cheek.
My mother also experiences this sometimes, and I've looked it up online and found others who describe the same thing but are also at a loss for what it could be.
I tend to think it's related to circulation or a lack of oxygen in the particular areas, but now after experimenting with different things like cayenne and hot/cold hydrotherapy with nearly no effect, I'm beginning to wonder.
Anyone have any similar experiences or answers?
