I am also new to SCD. Below is a reference to thrush, from p.26 of "Breaking the Vicious Cycle."
"Sometimes the invasion of microbes into the small intestine is so pervasive that yeast, for exaple, will be found in the esophagus. When it is suspected that yeast invasion is widespread( the oral infection, thrush, would be an indicator)it is wise to cut back on honey ingestion at the beginning of the dietary regimen (amount of honey in recipes should be reduced by at least 75%). The amount of honey may be increased as the condition improves."
