Hi Fledgling,
Hubby is finally sleeping, so thought I'd answer that post.
The name of the most awesome substance I have ever encountered for dental problems is - PELITRE - Now I do not know if that is the plants Spanish name or not, but I discovered it here in Mexico.
Gum disease runs in my family, in fact both of my grandmothers lost their teeth while barely in their 40's. My mother still has hers but has spent mega bucks having all kinds of treatments including having her gums surgically "split" throughout her mouth so they would heal tightly back around the teeth-extremely painful according to her.
Well, one day a couple of years ago I woke up and most of my teeth were terribly loose. My gums had been bleeding and had become sore, but the looseness hit overnight and I was TERRIFIED all of my teeth would fall out. We have zero insurance and things were financially very tight, boy was I depressed.
An old woman who lives nearby gave me a small bag of a bundle of what appeared to be twigs. She told me to suck on them for a couple of hours and then when able , to beging to chew them and swish my saliva around my mouth. I was in such pain I could not even imagine chewing on soup let alone TWIGS. But desperate, I started sucking on a couple of the twigs. Withing 5 minutes my mouth was numbed completely and I WAS able to chew the sticks. I chewed and swished and swished some more.It kind of bubbles like peroxide on a wound. After an afternoon of doing this off and on, I swear my gums had tightened back up around my teeth and all bleeding had ceased. My neighbor instructed me to continue to suck, chew and swish as part of my daily oral hygiene and I do. I have had no further problems and I give Pelitre to all of those who come to visit me here! It is too good not to share and super cheap.
You may also soak a bundle of pelitre in alcohol and make an infusion that can be swabbed onto gums or cavities with a cutip. It stops cavity pain til you get to a dentist, too.
On top of these properties it leaves your mouth feeling super fresh and very clean smelling as if you have just had your teeth cleaned at the dentist. I am sure it would help those with haliotosis immensely. The infusion may also be swabbed onto bee stings and insect bites to stop stinging and or itching.
Hope you can find some. I will also try to find out if it goes by any other name in English.
Blessings and Peace.
