Hello everyone!
I have lurked around here for quite a while, read and learned many things on many different subjects. I am curently on day 5 of a 7 day water fast, feeling pretty good, interspaced with feeling like dog poop. :)
I have noticed that many people use "only" quite a lot when refering to their fasts. "I ONLY fasted for 5 days" "My longest fast was ONLY 10 days" "I have ONLY made it 3 days" and such as that. Why negate your accomplishments like that? Be damn pround of it! Any length of fast is an amazing acomplishment! Hell, most people I know can't even make it till dinner time not eating without acting like they are going to drop dead of hunger at any given moment, complete with the dramatics that would make Scarlett O'Hara proud!
Fasting is tough business. Real tough. Fighting through the pain of a detox crisis dizzy and head pounding, back and neck aching, stomach churning. Cooking for your family, social engagements where everyone else is pigging out, the constant bombardment of food advertisements, fighting your oh so tricky brain trying to con you into eating "Just a little bit, come on, you know you want to, it won't hurt anything, you can always start again tomorrow..." Not to mention the boredom, oh goodness the boredom! Truly amazing how much of out routines revolve around food, Sheesh!
Anyway, rejoice in any length of fast you accomplish and get those negative "Only" thoughts out of your head!
