Loving this country and expecting to get something for it, is not what love is.

I should let Woody defend himself but I would like to make a point that this is not what conservatism is about.  A true conservative doesn't expect anything from government.  Allow me to illustrate.

When was the last time government or anyone else did something for you?  You waited and waited and when or if it finally happened, it probably didn't turn out the way you wanted it.  Good things don't necessarily happen to those who wait.  You might have faith in taxpayer money but, how much of that money really goes into getting something for someone rather than creating more government jobs?  Government wants to perpetuate itself.  As Regan said, "There is nothing more pernament and a temporary government program."

Conservatives believe in applying their efforts into making something happen instead of waiting for government to do it for us.  We believe in government getting out of our way.  Just look at the poster JohnMccain2008.
