While I think cleansliness is important, I think some people take it a little overboard at times. My friend buys expensive organic produce wash to clean all his fruits and vegetables, and he makes sure everything is always well-washed and peeled. Personally I think this is a little overboard. I know there are pesticides & chemicals to be concerned about, but
juicing is expensive and time-consuming enough for me to go beyond the conventional washing under the sink w/ water, to carefully rinse & cleanse all my produce in vinegar or other such products. I remember when I used to be really anal about these things it used to take me forever from start to finish
juicing everything, and I eventually gave up on
juicing all-together simply because I did not have the time. This time around, I'm definitely more lax about it, I peel a little bit here and there, but for the most part, if it's organic produce, I sometimes don't bother. I too would love to hear what veggies/fruits we should and should not be peeling! I know most fruits have the greatest concentration of nutrients closest to the skin or even in the skin (oranges, canteloupe, etc), but then again there's that tradeoff of pesticides. What do you guys think?
