fasting may not be the same as dieting or whatever, but your argument is totally irrelevent because
THEY BOTH LEAD TO EXACTLY THE SAME CONDITION CALLED
** TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM **
but you didn't read sweeties posts or the thread i linked to, so i'll make it easier for you... ill just cut and pate... AND PUT SOME BITS IN CAPS SO YOUI CAN READ THEM EASIER
"i was lucky enough to have an out-patient consultation with one of the world's most renowned natural hygienists and fasting doctors at his retreat last week. it really was a very worthwhile experience.
one of the things that i wanted to discuss with him was the drastic hair loss that i have experienced through FASTING. there has been some discussion about this lately on this forum and i promised to post about it…
he told me that he WARNS ALL FASTERS, irrespective of their presenting symptoms, about the possibility of hair loss, which can occur approximately 30 days after completion of the fast. (this was almost the exact timeframe that i experienced after my first 26 day fast)."
and
"Joel Fuhrman, M.D.
‘HAIR LOSS AFTER FASTING IS NOT UNCOMMON, it even has a medical name called Telogen Effluvium. Telogen Effluvium results from the conversion of a large number on anagen (active) hairs to telogen (resting) hairs, with subsequent shedding. It is usually observed 1 to 4 months after a precipitating event but may occur up to 8 months later. Typically less than 50% of hair is lost and be noticed only by the person suffering with it. Many drugs can cause this, but IT CAN ALSO BE PRECIPITATED BY RAPID WEIGHT LOSS, FASTING, surgery, childbirth, illness, infection and psychological stress. No treatment is necessary for this self-limiting disorder, although the duration varies form 6 to 12 months. Hair regrowth is always complete’.
here is a link to more info on telogen effluvium (hair shedding) - it's almost identical to the picture i posted this morning!

i also have the beau's line ridges on a couple of nails on the right hand (i hadn't really noticed them before i found that link!)
this corresponds with everything that the natural hygienic/fasting doctor told me"
"MY DOCTOR SAID IT WOULD TAKE 18 MONTHS TO 2 YEARS TO COMPLETELY REGROW (i have shoulder-length hair and unfortunately look ridiculous with short hair or hats!). he also said that the hair may grow back quite differently"
and a comment....
"I had read, many moons ago, about hair loss for a variety of reasons including fasting, but for the life of me could not find the reference or the author.
I had also read it was something not to be overly concerned about as the hair follicles always seem recover and regrowth would be better than before.
Just goes to show that even us oldies are still learning !!!
Well done.

so anyways, i was the one that got the red R from the moderator, i don't see yours.
sweetie1984, I AM GIVING YOU GOOD ADVICE. IF YOU ARE LOSING HAIR NOW YOU WILL PROBABLY WILL LOSE A LOT MORE HAIR, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE IT AFTER FASTING, AND IT WILL TAKE A LOG TIME TO REGROW. THIS IS WHAT A FAMOUS FASTING DOCTOR SAYS, PEOPLE ON THE
Water Fast FORUM ARE SAYING IT, AND ON THIS FORUM, AND I KNOW SOMEONE IT HAPPENED TO IN REAL LIFE
