Yes, it is time for the true conservatives and all who believe in the constitution to stand up and be counted, and of the rest of us to vote the neo-cons, mis-guided leftwing socialists and other pro-bailout scoundrels out. Could we dare dream of the long needed housecleaning to return the Fed to the Fed and, more importantly, return our freedoms and our government to the people?
As Luigi Zingales, a professor at the University of Chicago, writes:
The decisions that will be made this weekend matter not just to the prospects of the U.S. economy in the year to come; they will shape the type of capitalism we will live in for the next fifty year. Do we want to live in a system where profits are private, but losses are socialized? Where taxpayer money is used to prop up failed firms? Or do we want to live in a system where people are held responsible for their decisions, where imprudent behavior is penalized and prudent behavior rewarded? For somebody like me who believes strongly in the free market system, the most serious risk of the current situation is that the interest of few financiers will undermine the fundamental workings of the capitalist system. The time has come to save capitalism from the capitalists.
While we are at it, it might be a very good time to have another garbage piece of crisis legislation revisited: the abominable Patriot Act that does little to give us true security but does a great deal to take away our freedom and put us under the thumbs of big brother and the holding company.
As Benjamin Franklin astutely observed:
"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"
Time to say "No More!". No more control and bailouts of the international bankers, no more public servants and agencies that serve only industry and the wealthy elite with unconstitutional codes and color of law courts, no more loss of freedoms for a false sense of security, no more wars of mass deception that send our sons and daughters off under false pretenses to enrich the Halliburton type contractors and Big Oil.
