Hello!
I have a 14 year old LH chihuahua (male) who is the most finicky eater ever. He is small boned, and weighs 3.25 lbs-his normal weight.
He was down to 2.5 until I started putting a little cream on his food, now he begs for it! He did have a broken jaw, from an unknown cause, where the teeth are missing on the one side. So I started the cream thing to get him to eat when he was very skinny and he couldn't eat his normal dry organic dog food or the dog sausage.
The canned food he heats is healthy, organic buffalo, duck or pheasant. He loves raw carrots also.
He eats that special doggy sausage, I think it is by Nature Made. (or something similar)
But he won't eat the good moist food without the cream! Is it THAT horrible for him? Or is it worth the bad fat, just to get him to eat his meal? He looks great, I just bought Flexicose for the omega 3's and glocosamine, MSM etc. He does have dry, pink summertime skin.
I feel guilty about the little bit of cream, but it did put weight on him and he looks forward to eating now! He could even stand to gain a little more, in my opinion.
He gets daily exercise and is bright eyed and fiesty. (or shall we say--stubborn?)
Thanks!
