YESTERDAY WE HAD TREMENDOUS WIND All DAY LONG WITH GUST GOING WELL OVER 70 MPH....TREES KNOCKED OVER VITUALLY MOST ANYPLACE YOU DRIVE TO AND ROOF SHINGLES OFF ON COUNTLESS HOUSES, INCLUDING OURS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE WE HAD WINDS STRONG ENOUGH TO RIP ROOF SHINGLES OFF THE HOUSE I WAS LIVING IN. I HAVE SEEN IT HAPPEN TO PLENTY OF OTHER HOMES BEFORE, BUT NEVER SO BAD I TOOK OUR SHINGLES OFF.
WE WENT 28 HOURS WITH OUT ELECTRICITY, WHICH WAS BASICALLY LIKE A VACATION DAY, WENT TO BED AT DARK........................
THE WORLD TODAY VIRTUALLY STOPS WHEN THE ELECTRIC STOPS.....PEOPLE SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP THAT IN MIND......

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,258,448Where I live there are windmill farms all around, which means they put them there cause it is where the most wind is. I do roofing and the wind keeps the money coming in here. O:)

This is a reply to # 1,258,460yes, we have test mills all around us. the locals voted to not have mills and the law said you have zero say so in the matter....so someday we may be covered in wind mills.

This is a reply to # 1,258,504i seen where italy or some country over that way restricted car use 1 day or so a week...
in the usa 99% of the people will panic when we have a long period with no electric....which means no gas, no cars, then no phones, etc......our cell phones were worthless for a day because so many lines down and no electric i assume for the cell phone towers.
we just turned the world off and took a day vacation of being "free" refering to the day as a "amish" day.
