About a week ago, I noticed two bumps on the underside of my forearm. I'm really prone to rashes and hives so I kind of ignored it. But, a couple days ago, I noticed that there were puncture marks in the center of the bumps, about 1 mm wide. One bite was bigger than the other and there was a small ring of redness and swelling (2-3 mm) around each. They were maybe 5 mm apart.
I've been keeping an eye on it since then and the wounds have closed up and swelling has gone down a little. There's a slight burning sensation sometimes and it's always kind of itchy. I'm not too worried, but some of what I have seen on the intarwebs (oh god brown recluse) gives me nightmares.
I live in a suburban area of Phoenix, AZ and I'm not outside that often. I'm thinking I might have gotten bit while sleeping.
Any ideas on what it is or good ways to treat it?- Re: Unidentified bite? Suzee1

This is a reply to # 1,245,656I have actually seen Brown Recluse spider bite kits on the web, they sell them someplace.. you would have to search the net... but they sell stuff to help it heal and so you don't stay poisoned for life..
if were a brown recluse bite I think the flesh would turn black and die, gets pretty ugly but I am not totally 100% sure in all cases... but you might want to get one of those kits just in case.- Re: Unidentified bite? anonguest

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,245,707Oh, no. I don't think I've been bitten by a brown recluse, its just the images of what that spider can do scares me. My case isn't serious (I hope), I'm just curious as to what bit me.

about a year ago I had a simular thing happen to me but the bite was on my forearm. It would come and go sore one day o.k. the next. finally about a month or so of this it just stopped doing anything. it was just a hard knot on the top of the skin,I thought o.k thats it ,it's nothing but, it was something I had gone to the dr. with my hasband and his dr. just happened to see it. he asked me what had bitten me? I told him I really didn't know I mean it wasn't red anymore or anything.it looked like a wort or something like that. he told me I neded to get to surgan right away.
I was stunned I asked him why and he said some medical stuff I can't really remember. but anyway to make a long story short. saw the surgan who said and I quote meet me at the treatment center right away. I ended up having to have my arm operated on they removed a mass 11 cm round from under the bite sight.I would have never know it looked like a little wort. I have a scar an inch and a half long on my arm now. so please don't take any chances with an unknow bite it's better to be safe then sorry.
