Hi guys,
I will post more in detail in a couple of weeks (I am in the middle of moving to a new apartment, am on deadline at work again, and am just getting over a summer flu of some kind), but I wanted to just give you all some hope here. I have only had time to read here and there, but the post below about there being no cure broke my heart so I decided to stop work for a moment and share, as tha is also how I was feeling. Was going to do it in 2 weeks, but here is a brief synopsis. Shroom has always believed a co-infection of some sort to be the source of a candida infection that will just not go away, and that seems to be true at least for me.
I have discoverd that I had a nasty bacterial infection in my gums (perio disease) that my old dentist never mentioned (and I considered him a "good" dentist). Anyway, I went to a new merc free dentist about a month and a half ago and he spotted the infection right off the bat. They did a deep cleaning with the planing and scraping, and then zapped the bacteria with a laser, killing it instantly. Following this, I had a herx reaction, and then all my candida symptoms fell away. It totally makes sense to me now why nothing cured me. Everything "worked" for a little while, but nothing was able to cure with this bacterial infection coursing through my bloodstream for proabably a decade or so. No wonder! I have been able to beat candida back with a stick from time to time over the past 6 years that I have known I had it, but nothing worked permanently. I seem to be able to eat anything now, but I plan to be smart about this and be careful for a while.
Can you imagine having a bacterial infection for such a long time? I would have a little bit of gum bleeding here and there, and would get some oral sores now and then, but I just figured it was a result of the candida - never considered it could be a cause. How can you know if your own dentist is not missing something like this? I don't know - I found out by a fluke b/c I had a "great" dentist I loved - but it was only after happening on this new guy that he saw the infection. But, I would certainly consider such a situation if, like me, you just cannot seem to get better no matter what you do. Logically, there has to be SOMETHING driving the candida, otherwise, why WOULDN'T we get well as long as we are doing the right things??
I will be back in a couple weeks to let you know how things are going. I will let you know if I continue to improve. I have great hope now, though, b/c usually when I get sick with a cold or flu, I normally get quite a candida flare with it, and this time, that wss not the case!!!!!!
So, I hope this helps some of you. Oh, and for those who are new, I was on this forum since about 2002-2003 or so, but have been chronically sick with candida for at least a decade.
Take care,
Sans
