Hi greenbay27,
Yes, most certainly my son's odor got worse before getting better. I attribute this to his body’s final full-force attempt to rid itself of odorous toxins it had been accumulating for years, since his gut stopped filtering in new toxins after he cleaned out his gut, restored it with the proper probiotics, and maintained a low-choline, low-protein diet. Things that make you sweat like exercise, sauna baths, etc., can help your body eliminate the toxins. All I can recommend is to bathe more frequently during this die-off period to remove these toxins from your skin until it stops seeping out slowly but surely.
My recommendation, especially during this phase, is to use cleansers that have a pH of 5.5 to neutralize the high pH toxins that are coming out of your skin. See the posts in my blog http://mpdela.blogspot.com/search/label/skin%20pH . I’ve also found that a great deal of feminine washes that have come to the market which contain lactic acid or another gentle acid with a pH of or near 5.5.
Another manifestation of this die-off odor would be in your breath. My son’s breath got much worse during this time, and constant teeth brushing and scraping and brushing of his tongue, and netti washes (using of 1/4 tsp of salt (without iodine) and 1/4 tsp of baking soda inside your netti pot with warm tap water. I suggest without iodine because it may be irritating.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVJRctHhyrQ , only helped a little, but the odor was coming from his lungs, as the odorous toxins were being released from his lungs, and there really wasn’t much that could be done about it. It just had to take its course, and slowly but surely the odor began to diminish. It was the last odor to leave, and the first to return whenever he deviates from his management protocol.
Hang in there. I know it worked for him, and I hope it works for you as well – hopefully to help you stay odor free, or at least to reduce it to a manageable level. Sometimes on my son’s days off, he’ll slack a bit in his management protocol (like drinking alcohol or eating wrong foods), and the smell will come back a little, but the toxins are in such low amounts, that he can easily correct it in a day or two by going back on his plan.
Keep us posted on your progress, and best of luck.
