I've had the mirena for 2 months and have been losing hair. First my hairline receded (lost all the baby hairs that framed my forehead). The top of my hair has thinned a lot. (I have thick hair to begin with). I'm not clogging drains and not losing over 100 hairs per day but definitely losing more hair than usual. Actually, I hardly shed hair before this. However, I have experienced hairloss before due to stress and once due to antidepressants that was similar to this. It is not noticeable to anyone but me at this point. I had read up on mirena before getting it and have monitored my body very closely for side effects. This is the only negative side effect I have. My breast size has increased but I'm not complaining about that, lol. At my 5 week check up, I spoke to my gyno about this and she said that some people are very sensitive to hormones and it may be due to my hormones adjusting and perhaps I should give it another month (she said she would take it out at any time though.....very understanding). I have not been on hormonal birth control for 13 years before this so I can understand my body having to adjust to that. I had the paragard iud before this for 10+ years but due to heavy periods chose to go with the merina. I have been taking all kinds of vitamins and supplements for the past month......can't tell if the hairloss has slowed down......definitely regrowing the baby hair around my forehead and my hair getting longer (noticed that for sure in the bang area). I guess my question is this..........really, really wanting to keep the iud but not at the expense of going bald. Did anyone have hair loss initially and keep it and the hairloss subsided? If you had it removed because of hair loss, did the hair loss subside after removal? Also very afraid of throwing my hormones out of balance even more by removing it.........ughh!
