The band in Texas... blog
Rockstar Sports Bar in Fort Worth, Texas!
Tonight we played our first Texas date at a little bar by the freeway called Rockstar Sports Bar. It was a quaint, homey, venue that turned out to be the best damn place to play in all of the lone star state.
This morning, when we first started to book shows here, it seemed grim because every bar, club and venue in Fort Worth, Texas only shot us down. It looked as though we weren't going to be playing for the night, and we almost gave up..Then there was the Rockstar Sports Bar.
When we arrived there at around 9PM, the place was already packed full of wild, fun-loving, Texans, who greeted us with the hospitality of family, and treated us, well--like rockstars. The show was a total blast and we sold a lot of CDs and t-shirts to the locals of Fort Worth. Everyone in the bar was excited to have us there, including the singer of an amazing local band, Rock-N-Rusty (http://www.myspace.com/rocknrusty), who gave us several bottles of his homemade pepper sauce, which is incidentally best on eggs. We can't wait to try it and we urge you all to order some as soon as you can.
We met a ton of great new fans tonight after the show, our all time favorites being Rusty Arnold himself who doned a We Are They tee during his band's set, and a Native American legend, Mr. Billy Rio. Billy was an incredible man who just lost his wife last Tuesday, who came out to Rockstar for the first time with his daughter to have a good time. We Are They gave him what he came for! Not only was he one of the first fans in Texas to buy our CD, he even stayed after all the bands played and talked to us for awhile. What a great guy, Billy Rio forever!
