OMG!
This was so funnny and tragic at the same time. I can relate. I am constantly seesawing back and forth between fear=despair and hard earned serenity on this issue.
Some day: We will have plenty of Docs who lie awake at night unable to sleep, wide-eyed, remoseful; remembering all of their patients who begged for help, took samples of the most disgusting things, and suffered terribly, no solution in sight, because these Docs and the medical community were so closed-minded. They will cringe at those piercing memories of all the times they said "You need to see a shrink because you must be delusional". They will suffer for their IDIOCY, their denial, their shared snickering in the back rooms.
And we will probably never hear an apology, but we may start to see solutions 10 years down the road and finally: Some relief from the aliens within.
Stand tall! You are the frontrunners, the canaries, and the unwilling scape goats.
I am tempted to start an online group to rustle up some donations so we can do our own Research and Discovery.
"All lies and jest; still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. Hmmm...."
Simon & Garfunkel, The Boxer
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
Frank Herbert, Dune, Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear
