My mother developed a baseball sized lump on the side of her breast, and refused to see a allopathic doctor about it. She decided to use bloodroot as a black paste( with zinc chloride).
She's been in immense pain for the last month. It started out with just pain from the blood root, then a section of the scab broke and started bleeding massively for several days. We were all worried she'd bleed to death. My father finally tried putting the blood root tincture on it (without zinc chloride) and it stopped all bleeding episodes immediately after that, I assume because it clotted whatever blood vessel was bleeding out.
Now, we thought we were finally getting to the end, because the eschar was forming, however with large amounts of puss. But it fused back together, and my mother took off a piece of the scab and found that it was rotting inside.
I haven't seen any examples of anyone using blood root on a large scale. My suggestion to them was to pull off all of the scab, put aloe vera on it to help fight the infection and start again with the tincture or the black salve. It's definitely wet gangrene btw, not dry/hard.
