Trapper, you know how I really enjoy a good turn of phrase. I thought you might also appreciate this one.
I first heard about the latest great tomato scare on Tuesday by word of mouth from family. As you can imagine, getting MSM news first hand is one thing, getting it second hand (or third hand or more) by word of mouth from a frantic friend or family member who either got it directly themselves from MSM or is retelling the story in some version of their understanding as they got it from the person who got it from the person who got it from MSM .... can be confusing and down right exasperating at best and fun & entertaining at worst. The conversation I had participated in Tuesday by coincidence occurred while sister was in the final prep stages of planting tomatoes in her garden. You might not be surprised to learn that part of the sentiment from that conversation included another family member asking rather incredulously "...what? you mean that despite the severity of this ongoing tomato scare, you are STILL going ahead with plans to grow your own tomatoes?"...... I kid you not. Anyway, come Wednesday I dropped by a favorite momNpop hangout, sat down to a cup of joe, picked up the local newspaper, turned to the Nation section and found this AP story.

Here is the snippet that sort of switched my attention, which had been focused on just reading, into an impromptu mode of half reading while half replaying a snippet just read:
It’s an expensive proposition to toss seemingly edible food, experts said. But McDonald’s and others had good reason to pull....
At first, I read the passage - seemingly edible food. By habit my eyes tried to continue with the job of reading further and got to McDonalds before the mind had sort of taken a time out to replay and enjoy the beauty of that phrase..... ya know? So, after about 2 or 3 seconds of this, the combined effect was seemingly edible food..... McDonalds, seemingly edible food... McDonalds, McDonalds - seemingly edible food. At this point I was unable to contain myself and a loud bark of laughter escaped while sitting there at a table, alone, minding my business. This of course caused a few other heads to perk up, including the friendly woman behind the counter. She sort gave me a tongue-in-cheek uncertain glance and asked what I found so funny sitting there by myself. She came over, I asked if she had already heard about this scare (she did), I pointed at the article and asked " do you considers Mc Donalds seemingly edible food?". She let loose a loud bark of laughter.
