2005 Crop Note (for the seeds on sale in 2006):
The Sunflower crop of 2005 was the worst we've ever seen. They are by no means bad seeds - they just don't produce as abundantly as we are used to. Both Whole Sunflower for Greens and Hulled Sunflowers, for sprouts leave something to be desired - at least by our strict standards. When growing Sprouts we suggest Soaking for only one hour, then Rinsing and Draining for no more than a day - 2 tops. They produce wonderfully tasty crops, it is just that the seeds are not quite as vigorous as we are used to. Remember this: Once a seed has soaked up water it is ALIVE - a nutritional rocket - the sprout that emerges from the seed's germ is not necessary - we are just used to it. When we grow Sunny Sprouts we seldom see more than a bulge at the germ, even when the seed is at its best. Eat More Sprouts!
