I am thinking in buying a Big berkey filter to remove the chlorine, fluoride and other contaminates from the water. However, there isn't alot of info concerning this filter online.

How does this filter compare to distilled filters?

It is the best gravity filter I know of. It will filter river water etc. Removes bacteria from the water. You can put some bleach or sodium chlorite in the top to kill the viruses then the filterr will remove the chemical

Distilled water removes all minerals and everything else except for a few contaminates that will evaporate and condense with the water. This isn't much of a problem if you use tap water.


For those who have this filter do you recommend it?


I drink distilled water and just use the Berkey for ice cubesm, cooking and other things that take a lot of water. Distilling takes time and uses energy.
