Hello,
I am glad to find this board but it is overwhelming wading through so much so if anyone can offer me advice I would really appreciate it. I have had pain in my lower left ribs for about three months now. It is constant and feels very deep and tight like someone is stepping on my ribs. All of the muscles on my left side seem tense. For the first month I had a lot of difficulty breathing but now that is better. I was diagnosed with costocondritis a few weeks ago and have been taking 50 mg of indomethacin twice daily since then and prilosec once a day to protect my stomach. It doesn't seem to be helping much and makes me dizzy and bothers my stomach but I am supposed to stick with it for one month. My pain is the worst at night and I dread going to bed because I just can't find a sleeping position that isn't painful. Hot baths seem to help a little bit. I can't figure out what the cause of this condition might be for me and I hope I have the right diagnosis.
Any suggestions for alleviating pain?
Any comments on the indomethacin treatment?
If indomethacin does not work my doctor wants me to get cortisone shots (which I am particularly scared of), any experience with this/ comments?
Thank you very much!
