Not enough Taurine implies thyroid problems! The amino acid Taurine is an essential nutrient for the production of thyroid hormones. Now the interesting part is Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) ingestion causes Taurine deficiency.
This is multiplied in case of Mercury toxicity, which impedes Taurine absorption.
MSG is starving the body of its Taurine. Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) intake is in my opinion a direct cause of not only thyroid imbalance, but of Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome (APS or PAS).
This is not obvious to most because most people ingest Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) unaware that they are doing so.
A great side effect of being gluten free is for the most part, you have to stop ingesting the foods which contain MSG. I've noticed a direct correlation between less processed gluten free food and msg, gluten and other chemical ridden crap. It all goes hand in hand.
Does Taurine only come from meats? What if you were a vegetarian? The Taurine powder by NOW foods says on the descr*iption part that it comes from animal enzymes. But on the bottom it says vegetarian formula. Has anybody bought totally veggie Taurine powder?
Taurine is an amino acid. All amino acids can be obtained from vegetarian foods.
I don't think I would feel the need to supplement (I'm veggie) but that's just me.
I take magnesium taurate powder twice a day 1/4 tspn with meals. It works for me and I've read some excellent info on it. Here is a little more info on it.
