So check this out guys. I've been having a fair amount of relief from a treatment protocol I've been following as of late.
I had a brainstorm of sorts involving histamine. Histamine is what calls in the troops (cortisol, pro and anti inflammatory cytokines and other chemicals) so to speak to do all the healing business in an injured area. Generally, histamine is good because it does just that, and normally you would have a normal response to your skin's own little immune system activity. With us however, our cortisol and pro-inflammatories are "overacting", causing exacerbation of our problem. So it would make sense that if you temporarily stopped the histamine it would stop at least some of this reaction.
So, with this knowledge I bought a tube of ordinary benadryl cream. I applied my liquid melatonin and right after a thin layer of the cream. It not only took the dull burning away immediately but it also took alot of the redness away as well. My lips have looked and felt great for the last few days with very thin, easy, and SLOW peeling. After I apply it and it soaks in, my lips look normal. It's very cool.
Benadryl cream contains the anti-histamine Diphenhydramine, and also zinc acetate. Both have anti-histamine properties and the zinc is also a skin protectant.
I've also been interested in the zinc part of it as well. Zinc is very good for healing and it is antibacterial/antifungal. I've ordered a special zinc cream as well and I'm going to experiment with that a little.
I've still been taking my supplements and I am going to continue to do so. I've been taking fish oil, turmeric, ginger, along with my vitamins.
So take this as you will, but if anybody is looking for something else to try, it's an easy enough thing to get a hold of and use.
You guys let me know what you think of my histamine theory. It is just a theory, but it sounds good to me. I have a few good articles that lend some credence to my claims.
