My husband has been driving long haul team with our oldest son for about six months. The last two months or so, he's been complaining of really weird symptoms. I made a doctor appt. for him next week when he comes home again, but in the meantime, I'd like some input or thoughts from here.
His symptoms include aching legs and arms to the point of being severe and constant. It began in his feet and has moved up into his arms, neck, shoulders. His glands under his chin become swollen then go back to normal then swell up again. His feet and legs turn purple and yellow and he has to massage his muscle all the time. He is taking Advil every day for now because that's all he can get on the road. He doesn't sleep well either and is starting to fall asleep while driving. NOT GOOD!!
He did have polio as a baby [he is 56 now] and that is the first thought we had, post polio syndrome, but he doesn't have trouble swallowing or breathing. He does sit for long periods [3 to 4 hours] before he can get out and stretch and walk and he doesn't eat very well at all on the road either, not to mention zero exercise.
I'm the 'health nut' in the family and I really want to help solve this mystery illness. He is ready to quit driving long haul because this is so miserable for him and he doesn't want to make himself sicker.
Any ideas, thoughts on what it might be? Any ideas, thoughts on what it might be? Gland swelling makes me think infection or toxin, as from a tick or spider bite maybe? Plus the fact that it began in his feet and legs and has moved up from there.
What kinds of tests should the doctor do? Blood? Urine?
Thanks in advance for all input!
