How many of you try to bring some sense of humor to your job? How many of you work in a humorless environment, one so serious that you feel like you could scream?
I was always cracking jokes at my job (at appropriate times of course). And the other people.....they were SO DRY! Some of these people never ever joked about anything.
And these humorless people were the ones that were perceived to be the MOST serious about their job, even though we all worked equally hard.
Why is that? Lack of humor equals seriousness?
Am I the only one that has experienced this?

This is a reply to # 117,303I have a semi-sarcastic sense of humor. Sometimes works and sometimes it gets me called into the office.
I truly do believe a sense of humor will get you thru a lot of stressful things... It does put people at ease. Most of the people that I work with understand my sense of humor there are a couple that will turn me in immediately...
The other day someone asked me how I was doing, and I said pretty good considering all the backstabbing going on... She was offended, and I said if someone doesn't like being called a backstabber then don't do it...

I do very much believe in using humor. I also like to try to lighten the moods of public servants. One of my favorite ploys is to get a cup of coffee and when served by a waitress or waiter that does not know me I tell them that I used to drink the coffee with cream and Sugar but I had to stop because it caused sharp pains in my right eye. Usually met with "Really?". Yep, I forget to take the spoon out of the cup.

This is a reply to # 117,303I'd never make it on my job if I didn't have a sense of humor. Most people here do, but then there are the grumps. And yes the most grumpy is the most dedicated and maticulously anal person I've ever met. Nice guy away from work though. But definately too serious at work.
The poblem is everyone tries to avoil him, which doesn't make for a very team oriented work environment.
