I sprout sunflowers in a similar fashion to grass.First I start with 4 cups which makes for two flats. Then I look for broken seeds which will rot and other misc. plant stuff. Then I place the 4 cups in a large collander and rinse them off real good. Then I place them in a rubbermiad container and soak for 12 hrs. Then I skim off the good seed and discard all the seeds that sink.Rinse again and let the seed rest for 12 hrs. then place the seed on the growing medium.I use a flat filled with peatmoss and place this directly on top of the seeds. And wait until the sprouts lift the tray off before placing outside in the grow racks.I do water daily with strict monitoring to keep mold from being a problem.I have pics. of sunflowers growing through the inital sprouting phase in the
Image Gallery in the photos section under grassmans sprouts. Its easy once you get the hang of it.
