Two quick items re: early voting in the primary-
1) My Meetup Group coordinator said a voter went to his polling place and was told that Ron Paul had pulled out of the race by a voting official. Not true! The voting official was reprimanded at the county level (good), but just be aware.
2) He also said that four voters told him that they went to their polling places and were told by voting officials that the state no longer requires the little stamp on your voter registration card that says you voted Republican (or Dem, but these were Paul voters). Our state Paul coordinator said this wasn't true and others have said they weren't aware of any changes, BUT... if for some reason they don't have that little stamp at your polling place, ask the voting official to sign and date your card to show you voted. Otherwise you won't be able to participate in the convention process.
Remember the precinct caucuses start promptly at 7 PM after the polls close on March 4th. Bring any resolutions you want to submit. I'm the precinct chair for my box, and we don't ever read the resolutions at the precinct level. We just shoot them up to county. Some boxes are different. One thing I'd like to submit is a resolution to get voter approval for the TTC. Do you know of anyone who's written one already? Please email it to me if you've got one. I'm going to check with Texas Eagle Forum since they're against it. I'd also like to see any other resolutions you plan to submit.

This is a reply to # 1,119,450Early voting is on, as you know. Now we are up to 3 counties saying you don't need your voter registration card stamped and 3 EVs saying Paul dropped out.
This email was sent out from Debra Medina of Ron Paul for Congress (my apologies if you got this news from elsewhere... I want our non-Texan friends to be aware of this, too):

162.004. AFFILIATION PROCEDURE: VOTING AT POLLING PLACE.
(a) The signature roster for a primary election must state at the top of each
page: "A person commits a criminal offense if the person knowingly votes in
a primary election or participates in a convention of a party after having
voted in a primary election or participated in a convention of another party
during the same voting year."
(b) An election officer at a primary election polling place shall stamp the
party's name in the party affiliation space of the registration certificate
of each voter who presents the voter's registration certificate and is
accepted to vote unless the party name has already been stamped in the space.
(c) If a voter is accepted to vote without presenting a registration
certificate, the presiding judge shall issue the voter an affiliation
certificate. The certificate is not required to be issued to a voter in a
runoff primary unless the voter requests it.
Acts 1985, 69th Leg., ch. 211, § 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1986. Amended by
Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 864, § 107, eff. Sept. 1, 1997.
The *affiliation certificate* referred to in item (c) above is available in
the election judge kit but any slip of paper documenting same and signed by
the judge should suffice to get you into the precinct convention (which is
the only reason you need a stamped card or “affiliation certificate).
Given all the problems with electronic records, it is quite risky to leave
the poll with "we'll record that you voted and that info will be available
at the convention" guarantee. Obviously, if your name is mysteriously not
on that list, you won't be allowed to attend your precinct convention unless
you have one of the *proofs* listed above.

A voting official was found spreading a lie with direct impact on a primary candidate to the highest office in the free world. Based on the limited information to go on, one can only conclude this was an intentional lie and not an honest mistake. Better yet, just for grins and giggles, assume that this somehow happened as a result of an honest mistake. How does an election official make the honest mistake of telling voters that a candidate who has not pulled out of the race has pulled out of the race? Just trying to give benefit of the doubt. This voting official was probably just a lacky following orders from somewhere up the chain. As far as you are aware, other than this slap on the wrist (reprimand at county level), is that it? Is that the extent of recourse protecting the primary election system in one of the largest states of the world's only super power? That is kind of mind boggling to fathom. If it really is this easy to inject fraud into the mechanics of the election system, what next? It seems prudent that somebody with their heads screwed on tight with an interest in conducting a legit election should be pursuing an investigation into how and or by whom this lie was hatched. At the very least, does this not seem like something that should interest the ever nosey folks at HSA to be investigating as if there was no tomorrow...... I mean, assuming that it was not someone in that loop who helped hatch this plan in the first place? Good grief, Lucy pulls the football out from under neath Charlie Brown once again, and HSA zebras are nowhere to be found.
