I hope this message will help at least one person if not more--YOU DO NOT SMELL. I went through the same things that everybody on this forum has discussed and in particular with the fecal smell. I suffered through feelings of shame, guilt and fear that I smelled horribly for ten years, did you hear me I said ten years, before I finally broke down(nervous breakdown) and spoke to somebody(sister and best friend) about what I was feeling AND HIDING. I know now that I do not smell and that the only way for me to realize this this was by me speaking to family and friends and eventually now a therapists who specializes in anxiety and panic attacks(which is what I suspect is causing all of this). There is no pill or diet that is going to help you.....trust me I tried half of what I read on this forum, and it didn't work, you're just wasting money. At the same time this fear that you smell like shit will not go away overnight it will take time(for me almost a year and half). You have to confide in somebody, even if it is somebody you don' know that well like a priest or peer counselor, you must do it and explain everything that you feel and everything that you think occurred(such as comments you THINK YOU HEARD or peoples reactions to your presence that YOU THINK YOU SEE) and not be afraid to let your true feelings come out. You MUST, MUST, MUST MUST, talk to SOMEBODY. It feels so good to go ANYWHERE with out having to worry about whether I smell like shit or a fart or whatever. I know this may be hard for many of you to accept, especially when you feel like you hear these comments in public about a particular smell or see what seems like a reaction that everybody gives you when you are around them. Even now when I look back on my experiences with this it is hard for me to not believe that those comments didn't occur or that what I saw didn't happen, but regardless it doesn't matter because now I know that I never hear comments or see those past reactions. All I can say is if you really want to be free of this do what I mentioned and speak to somebody and when they tell you they don't smell anything believe them because it is true. I will gladly answer any questions, and even explain my own experiences more in depth another time. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEBODY.....YOU ARE NOT ALONE......YOU JUST NEED A LITTLE COURAGE AND PUSH IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION........you can also check out the previous threads of mine from 2006 when I was almost suicidal with this problem. Oh check this book out Claire Weekes "Are You Suffering from Nerves", it has been very helpful so far.
Peace and Good Luck
