5
pounds really isn't very much to lose. I've lost more than that on a single day fasting. Why do you want to lose that extra 5 pounds? Health isn't based on a number on the scales. You may well be able to fast for 20 or 30 days and not lose a great deal of weight since you don't have much to start with. But the goal of such a fast wouldn't be weight loss, it would be a more healthy body free of toxins and with old diseased or damaged flesh bone and organs repaired to bring renewed vigour and life to your body.
If you fast to completion, meaning until you've used up all your fat reserves and your body is free of toxins (often seen by the clearing up of your tongue during a fast) you will be able to refeed according to your body's needs rather than being afraid to eat too much. If you eat raw foods according to your desire for them and eat well of all fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts during the recovery period then your body will find it's own 'best' weight naturally.
Refeeding is a matter of slowly getting your inactive digestion system used to providing nourishment for your body again after it's extended rest. This can be done first on juices, diluted if you wish or full strength, freshly squeezed or otherwise freshly prepared or you can break the fast on fruit straight away. The important thing is to take small amounts firt thing after any fast longer than 5-7 days. Small portions, half an orange would be enough for some, a couple of hours apart for the first day. You can then increase the amount of fruit you eat and the length of time between meals. I usually end up being happy with one or two fruit meals by the end of the first week of refeeding. After a week or so, depending on the length of the fast, I add other things to the fruit. Either a meal of raw nuts or a raw salad. I always start my day with fruit, whether refeeding or not so that doesn't change. Towards the end of the fast if you're planning to go back to eating cooked foods you could start adding just one cooked food to your salad, keeping the bulk of the meal still raw.
Hope this helps.
Andrew.
