Oops I guess you're steps ahead, here I was just done reminding you to remember to break your fast correctly but you on top of your game and already asking,it okay I'll respond with a more concise answer later today. I'm starting to think how you break you fast is really subjective since there too many varied options. I used to do the good old recommended diluted orange juice but I stopped and started doing a whole orange instead, some even suggest popcorn. So I'm just finishing up the research on this subject as I'm due to break my fast this Friday evening. Oh thats another thing some recommend breaking you fast at sunset of your last day and I have most found this to be great really great because I think its later but gives your body ample time to get the feel of digestion going and if for any reason you feel uncomfortable it'll bed time soon and you can sleep it off. Then you wake up to a new day and new start and you can continue breaking your fast and your next attempt wont be soo bad as the digestive system was awakened the day before. Where as doing this all in one day can be a bit much and the day could just drag worse if you react badly to breaking your fast, yes you can also sleep but you wake up to the same old day where as the other way its better to wake up to a brand new fresh dat and fresh start.
As for how long I've been fasting I've been fasting for 4 years,
year 1 was a 23 day religious water only fast which I enjoyed the health benefits were tremendous amd that how I decided to so a health-detox fast once each year
year 2 was a 24 day water only detox fast, also enjoyed it.
year 3 didnt fast and instead packed on a lot of weight, became obese from mostly eating out.
year 4 from past experience I knew that fasting wasnt only good for spiritual or detox reasons but also weightloss; so to regain my health plus fit back into my clothes I resorted to fastingstarting mid July '07.
By December'O7 I went from 220lbs to 130lbs, lost most of my cellulite(before December),fit back into my size 4 jeans, wear mostly smalls. However,I had started off pretty obese so yes my stomach has gone from pregnant looking to flat I can comfortably wear tops and my stomach looks real flat but its unlike previous fasts where I ended with a really really shrunk flat stomach and really tiny waist. My arms had also gotten big and looked bigger as I lost weight but never on my arms then in December suddenly if not overningt they just shrunk the stretch mark had been fading over the months so no more strecth marks on my arms.Understandably fasting cant do it all in one go my arms are smaller but flabby and before they shrunk I wasnt comfortable doing weights on fat arms;but now they're reduced I can train the flab off.
A big relief is after such big weightloss I have no loose skin at all;just flabby arms, a stomach that's flat but would rather it be flat from exercise. So yes I have my work cut out for me. However the bigger part(weightloss}is done just need to workout for a toned look.
Most important than the weightloss was the change toward a healthier lifestyle, 6 months of fasting afforded me to eliminate bad eating habits as mindless, emotional over& quick -eating, portion control, making healthy choices. This wasn't achieved overning but the last 6 months of fasting was ample time to tackle each goal and implement ways to overcome each bad habit. Each time I finished a fast I would use the refeeding time to work on each goal till I was comfortable I could better cope and move on to the next. I think tackling and overcoming these bad habits during a fast leads to healthier eating habits which will ultimatley help you maintain weightloss and a healthy lifestyle. A small step at a time!
This will be my very last fast and will transition to a 6 week post fast period & cleanse of 90% raw fruit& vegetables(obviously not in the strict sense but smoothies, salads, live juices etc) to replenish essential nutrients that have been stripped off me during the last 6 month fast. Thereafter I will add in but in mimimal amounts cooked grains, homemade whole wheat bread, vegan dairy(non soy) etc I believe there's room for treats but in minimum amounts too. Plus exercise, oh how weak I am from 6 months of fasting but will go gradually.
Fasting is great, all natural, healing, effective and best of all its free. I'm glad I chose this over some gimmick diet money sucking diet, over some nutritionists advice cause on my own I sure learnt a lot of nutrition facts that the food industry would rather have us not know all for free.
I truly wish you the best as you start your fast and I just know you too will experience abundant health from fasting. Goodluck and if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Best wishes
