I am not sure if the poster is still around -- haven't visited this forum in a while. But...
There is something different between a cow's stomach and a goat's or horse's (for instance) that makes cows do very badly on grain. (They I think can eat silage instead, although feedlot cows get corn.) Let me know if you want to know more and I will e-mail the farmer that explained this to me and post/e-mail you back.) Anyway, this is why pasture-fed is important for cow products, and for cows in general.
