My friend's father is about to undergo chemotherapy to treat lymphoma. I know her father is 76 years old, medium-build and married.
I'm seeking some general information about what kind of diet and supplements may be helpful to enhance the chemotherapy and diminish the side-effects of the chemo.
PS - I'm not really in the position to ask too many questions (about her father). Therefore, I just need some general advice.
I've done some research on the 'net and have, so far, come up with a few options:
1. Eat as nutrient-dense a diet as possible.
2. Don't supplement with high-dose antioxidants. A basic multi is okay though.
3. Consider a few supplements like AHCC (a Japanese mushroom-complex) and Immunocol (a special whey-protein powder).
4. Try one of the guided-imagery CDs that are specifically made for chemotherapy support.
5. Acupuncture may help with the side-effects of chemo.
Any other advice would be welcomed.
Thanks.
