I was wondering a couple things about your going bra-less. First off, what type of jobs do you have? While I work, I am unable to, not only because of the...hmmm, what word to use, other than pervs
Also, I have been doing this on my off days YET today I really saw me in the mirror. I know I am a beautiful woman (no insecurities here!) yet I did not look good with the shirt I had on with no bra. It was a long sleeved t-shirt type. I looked sloppy. When I put my bra back on, I no longer looked sloppy :/.
How do you do this without looking sloppy (if you understand what I mean by that?)?

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,070,778What about the summer clearance stuff? There are tank tops and skinny-strap shirts that have the "built in" padding, or extra material that "holds" the breasts in. I got me one of those to see how it'd work, and I LOVE IT! Holds things in enough so I don't "poke through" if you know what I mean, and I just wear it under my other clothes.
It's wonderful and I wish I'd bought more when they were still available and marked down to $3 per shirt!
Of course, they're all gone now.
aaarrrggghhh!

LOL yes I know what you mean. That "poke through" is not as much of a concern than the fact I am sagging :( and I do not look good WITHOUT a bra, anymore!
I have begun doing the deer exercise that Zoe has posted and Wombat found and linked to. YET it is not done much for me, thus far...well, In This Time!
I did though last week wear a shirt that kind of held me in and didn't look so sloppy and threw a sweat jacket over it. I was trying to find other options though. Because when I wore the top under a sweater it didn't look near as good.

This is a reply to # 1,070,822Since Iodine I "hold up" better than I did, but still not perky like in my 20's (of course, and I didn't expect it)
However, what I did was, simply buy a shirt smaller than my own size. They stretch (the brand "Faded Glory" through WalMart) and I simply tuck them in. I am able to, uh, um, er, shift myself to a better position. It holds everything in and "up" quite nicely! Nice and snuggly and non-shifting, and no straps.
Geez, wish I'd thought of buying these things sooner.
Soooo comfortable! (to me, anyway!)
I never want to wear my bra again! I was always having to adjust the darn thing!

Anyway, I'll never go back to a horizontal bed again.
No more numbness in hands.
Sleep THROUGH the night - even when sick! (Awaken only once after 5am even if I drink 12oz of water at 11pm bedtime!!!!) Must be natural circadian cycle for me, but don't HAVE to get up yet, so went back to bed and fell right back to sleep.
Very comfortable.
81 year old dad wants them, so I ordered. Will report on him once I learn of anything. He doesn't sleep through the night and awakens to urinate - this should be interesting!

I read about this from your original post and saw the link yet how does it elevate? I do not think I am asking that right. I mean, you put your bed on these 'posts' and it changes the way the bed 'sits', right? How does it make you feel different?
I tried using one of those body pillows and folded it so that my head was higher than rest of body. It didn't work so well. I tossed and turned more than I do now! Also, was sore when I awoke :(.
I do forget though, how long have you been sleeping like that?

(This shows what the bed looks like using concrete blocks and wood, thus cheaper and probably even MORE stable than the plastic risers I purchased-it also explains the things that inclined bed therapy will help - it's just NOT the same as using a pillow! You would have to get a full-body WEDGE-shaped mattress to do this, and that would be the most expensive way to go!)

Thanks for asking - I forgot to mention this! His foot pain's still there - but he's complaining about it less and less. He tells me it's no better - but I can tell you that's just the way he is - he is not crying out in his sleep anymore, at least for the two hours I'm reading (or watching tv) before I go to bed. This is a reply to # 1,070,778Hi Beth - I dont wear any bras, but I DO love bralets or tops/camis with buld-in shelf "bras" which give me a second layer so you cant see the skin or should I say the color of the areolas through my top. As you know, many tops are a bit sheer. They also keep them from moving too much when I walk. What do you mean by sloppy? Do you mean that they sit a little lower now? I think thats natural and of course thats what bras do - lift them up while wearing them. There are healthy bra alternatives also, if you are larger or want a bit more coverage or shaping yet without constriction. Wombie started a post about that a little while ago

yes, sloppy is sitting LOTS lower and looking it through the shirt. Also, with no bra, they bounce more while sitting lower, thus the 'sloppy' look!
When I was younger, they did not look bad with no bra. Now they seem to have lost their oompphh...LOL.
I am going to have to search for some cami tops and skimpy shelf bra tops. Winter is not best time to buy these :(.

Also, there is a bralet type "bra" called Warners style #1046 which is being discontinued as I heard. Its a bralet but comes in cup sizes. I love those also. Im a 34D. There are no constricting panels or wires, no foam lining, just pretty soft comfy lace. You can find them here:

the Warners bras are nice. I saw one that was really too cute. Do these fit you as well as when you wore wires? (Did you ever wear wires?) I mean with keeping you lifted?
I am a 38-40 D. After my fast, I should be back where I was several years back, which was a 34-36 D.

This is a reply to # 1,070,834Beth, if you like the Warners, get them now, since the nude/beige is already discontinued. If you order from Freshpair, the shipping is free over $25 and if you dont like them you can return them (except nude color which is final closeout). Its cheap to return since they are very light, being just a bit of lace ;)
Im a 34D and dont have any sagging, but I know from reviews that these are supposed to be wonderful, like a Friday bra LOL. They will not lift you as much like a wired lined bra, since they dont have the constricing construction, which makes bras so bad diminishing or preventing lymphatic flow.

This is a reply to # 1,070,778Hey, Beth, I had to suspend my bra-less-ness, for the reasons that you mention and also because wearing a bra protects, do you know what I mean? I bought a couple of el cheapo athletic bras at an evil discount store that are fine for day wear. They provide protection, support and do not bind. Now, when I actually wear something clingy or nice I will wear a regular bra, I'm afraid...it all depends on the destination:) And the athletic bras are not suitable for wearing under revealing/clingy clothes. They have seams, wide straps, white cotton. Veeery utilitarian. NOT sexxxxy.
I have some of those "shelf" type summer tops as well. My favorites have some spandex in them.
I'll bet that you don't look sloppy to others, Beth, I'll bet that you look sloppy to yourself. Just as I look sloppy, to my self.
I will still take off this danged bra whenever I can.
I can take off my bra without taking off my shirt, how about you gals?

I can take my bra off with shirt on. I can take my shirt off with other shirt on (when I need to change in car :D) and lol...I can take shirt off while driving and just have bra on! LOL I guess you could call me exhibitionist!
I understand about athletic bras. They are good for just that, exercising and in summer, with shorts. I do not like them, otherwise.
You may be right about me looking sloppy to just myself. I guess it is a way to retrain ourselves?!
When I am in the house, mostly, the bra is not on. Although I have been making sure to move my lymph, to make up for wearing the bra, also!

This is a reply to # 1,070,854Beth, just remember, that it is NOT natural for a woman to wear a bra or to have the boobs of a 15 yar old when she is 50! ;) Its just that in our society, this is what we are used to nowadays. For the most part of human's existence, women did NOT wear bras.
What Im saying is, being natural is NOT sloppy or tacky or ugly. Every stage a womans body is in when maturing is beautiful in its own way :)
