I've heard some pretty amazing things about the use of bloodroot pills, black salve pills, and even black salve put in pea-size or half pea-size capsules. BUT...I just ran across a site for Indian-made black salves that claims that bloodroot can be toxic to the liver. They make a black salve without bloodroot that they claim can be used externally or internally. I don't have the time to go through a huge list of bookmarks right now to find it, but will come back when I do. I don't know if this is factual or not, but it did cause some concern. I think if we use the pills or salve internally, that we will at least support the liver with liver glandular protomorphogens just to be on the safe side, or consider trying the Indian salve.
As for the book--quit quibbling and get it if you want to do salves. It has everything--all the history, different doctor's protocols, formulas, instructions, and how to use the salves in different circumstances. Also some great gross photos that are helpful in knowing what to look for and what certain conditions mean, such as a prurient yellow pus discharge that signals the need for serious detoxing and immune enhancement. All experts advise a full cancer treatment protocol along with the salve use. It will cause tumors, infection and other abnormal tissue to exit, but one needs to alter the internal terrain that played a willing host to cancer, also.
The author does not particularly advise bloodroot salves unless one has a fast moving, aggressive cancer, but she has others she advises instead, such as goldenseal-based escharotics. We've only used the one we new about, but I wish I had the book years ago when we first started.
