i know my removal was going to cost $165.00. my iud is lost. my doctor's office is located in a hospital. they had a form for me to fill out. with my income i had to pay 10%.

hi, sorry you have had so many problems, welcome to the club!!:)Yes those symptoms are all side effects of mirena - many people have felt terrible emotional upsets on mirena, everything from suicidal tendances through to pure rage. And on the physical side, everything from hair loss to mini stroke!
i cant help on how much it would cost you, as i am english and we already pay extra in our taxes, so when we need anything, we get it done for free at source over here - but i can say that it is certainly not advisable to try and take it out yourself. yes people have done it themselves, and have been lucky - but that's all it is - the same luck as you have when you are playing Russian roulette - because for some people, the iud will be embedded in the uterus - if you try to pull out the iud and it is embedded, you will pull half your uterus with it!!! and do untold damage - and i am sure the repair bill will come to much more than the cost of just getting the mirena moved normally!!! (quite apart from possibly ruining the chances of every having kids) so whilst i totally understand the frustration and desperation involved when people are having side effects and have little money to get the damn thing out, it worries me deeply on their behalf, and it is really is not worth trying to get it out yourself - especially after it has been in quite a while like yours. One way round it, could be to go to ER and say you have severe pain etc and you ask if they can take it out for you? I think they are legally bound to help, from what others on the forum have said in the past. I do wish you luck and hope you can get it out asap. It may take a long time to get your body completely sorted out after mirena, but you should notice that at least some of the side effects begin to go quite quickly, though others may be more persistant. i also agree with every one . do not take it out your self. yes it works for some but the are allout of risk and thinks that could happen and that would make it even worse.
i read on here that kabel lives in GB if iam ot mistaken and if iam , then iam sorry.
anyways, here in the states in the ER hospitals the will give you pain killers but if you are not dieing the will not take it out. but then again , i went to a millitary hospital on post and thats what the have told me. but i have heard that the will not take it out off post eather. so i realy dont know. i endet up having to make an appointment to get it out and it was no trouble at all. no pain , no nothing....
i also tryt to get it my self and i did feel the strings but i just didnt have what it takes to pull on it my self.
this country is a great country meaning the unidet states , but when it comes to medical if you dont have it , you are basicly screwt.
we have millitary medical wich realy stinks but atleast we have it.

Don't know the cost out of pocket to have it removed, but whatever it is, its worth it to get your life back....Let me tell you I had the Mirean IUD for 6 weeks and I NEVER SLEPT, NEVER...only one hour here or there. I was a zombie....I got it removed and the next day I slept all day and night. When I had that...piece of shit..thing (sorry it makes me so mad that the real side effects are not told to women)....I would stay awake all day and night literally, my body would be exhausted but I would not sleep....I am a person that usually sleeps for 10 hours a night all the time and have slept for 10 hours a night for MY WHOLE LIFE until I got the Mirena IUD of which I NEVER slept no matter what I did.... I get it removed and I can sleep now.....do not believe anythign yor doctor says...the manufacture denys the complications and symptoms and this is why the doctors most likely deny them...get it removed...

I am also having problems with Mirena. My doctor never told me about all the side effects. She only said irregular bleeding the first 6 months. To answer your question on how much it cost for removal. I called my obgyn today and her office told me it would cost $150.00 to have it removed. I think this is money well spent.

to get it removed u should go to a planned parenthood or something like that its the cheapest way to do it w/o insurance.
