As Trapper once said, "It's the cook in the kitchen that does the killing in the family." (Or something like that!)
I feed my 2.5 y.o. twins raw meat and they love it. For breakfast they had some grassfed ground beef with a vinaigrette and thought it was terrific. As long as I know where it comes from I am fine with that. They get raw milk, raw meat, and of course lots uncooked eggs. What they do not get is sick.
We have followed the Weston A. Price guidelines and philosophy to the best of our ability and budget and I do think it has resulted in pretty healthy little girls. Remember, those meat-tearing teeth are the first to come in for infants. Some of Ann and Merry's first foods were egg yolk and shaved calves kidney/liver. Sounds gross, but it's what children's brains need.
What upsets me the most is when they eat processed cat food! Ugh. I am sure that is like the pet food equivalent of Oscar Meyer weiners. Unfortunately one of our dogs won't eat raw, and our cat doesn't like nice cat food -- he is a strictly Meow Mix kind of guy. They steal his bowl sometimes.

One great goal of mine is to shatter the illusion that anyone has about soy and soy products. You're better off eating commercial sausage than soysage, in my opinion. And I think that people who deprive their infants and children of animal products should be prosecuted for child abuse. I used to work at a primarily vegan store and the veg kids that came in were inevitably the palest and sickest. Please -- do what you want to yourself, but don't inflict this on growing bodies and minds...
