The black salve that I use doesn't list Tallow as an ingredient. The company is Larson Century Ranch. I believe their website is simply http://www.larsoncenturyranch.com. I'm not totally certain of that because I don't buy from their website. I do know that you can buy from their website if you'd like to though.

I have what is probably the original formula on my website. It came from a book published before 1900. The black salve ingredients include bloodroot, zink chloride, flour and water. But the treatment as described uses a second "light" salve in between black salve applications, and applied up until the lesion is completely healed over. It prevents any secondary infection. It uses pitch (bow rosin from a music store), lavender oil, linseed oil, and beeswax. The beeswax is the only questionable product for your case. You can also try http://health.centreforce.com. It's located in Australia, and the black salve is called Centerforce black salve, but only a veterinary version is available. It's the same formula as original Cansema Salve, in fact, it's labeled as Centerforce Cansema. The ingredients are: Gallangal, Chapparal, Bloodroot, Zinc Chloride, and DMSO. The only difference between the version available and that originally mean for humans is that it's not so strong on the first application and has more DMSO to help penetrate thicker animal skins. I've used it on four spots and one can feel it burn a bit at first, more of a hot tingle. It seems to do the trick.
