This is Daisy4's report on the book, 'Water & Salt', where I first heard about this, Donna.
Of course, it only made sense to me because a kidney dialysis patient had explained 'osmosis' to me, long ago.
It made sense to me to equalize the ideal mineral salts content of fluids inside and out. That's what the body is trying to do in any case.
The authors of that book suggest that a one percent (1%) solution of the finest Himalayan crystal salt, at 97 degrees, is the closest we can come to the ideal mineral content of the body's own fluids between the cells...like the amniotic fluid we were bathed in before were born, and like tears.
And bathing in that solution allows the minerals to balance, both in and out, through the skin...while diluting the toxic content, within...by up to 1/2, I believe.
I used something less than one cupful in each of my two footbaths...and the circulation of my body fluids carried the more balanced solution further.
It is interesting to me that you mention shooting sensations in your fingers and toes. I have had some of those...though only one at a time, and only occasionally, and sometimes in other places, as well.
I know they could be most anything, but I have thought it might be some reaction of nerves...I don't know for sure.
I also don't know what effect this bath would have on ones kidneys, or any other part, so I must say to do it ONLY when there is NO reason to avoid swimming in seawater. Please be guided by your healthcare professional.
I am very glad this helped, Donna. And I hope your pains are gone soon.
Thanks for telling.
My best,
Fledgling
