Some other things to try while you're waiting:
I found that drinking cranberry juice also helps to relieve back pain due to kidney problems. This is the most effective compared to the other methods I've tried.
Drinking 4 glasses of plain water might help to flush your kidneys a bit. It has to be plain water. If you drink a salt water flush, it will clean out your colon instead.
You could also try making parsley tea. Boil about 6 cups water. Chop up 2 bunches of parsley into 2 or 3 pieces so they'll fit in the pot. Drop them in the boiling water for 1 minute. Throw away the parsley. Drink 1/2 cup of this parsley tea every 12 hours or so, watching your body for reactions to the tea. If you feel more pain, stop immediately.
Lemon tea sometimes helps. In one warm cup of water, put 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice (about half a large lemon) and 1 tsp (or to taste) of natural sweetener, like honey or maple syrup.
