I had my Mirena out last Thursday! I decided to do something about our issues rather than just talk. Sent a mail to the International Bayer website and I got a response today from the branch in my country (see response below). I then sent a mail to Oprah Winfrey to see if she could do a show on the Mirena (see portion of my mail below).

Reply from Bayer:

have documented it and reported it to our Global Pharmacovigilance Department in
Germany.

Indeed, market research shows that 90% of women using Mirena are happy with
Mirena, but there are also women who experience side effects. Unfortunately,
not every method is suitable for every woman. It is regrettable that you have
had this adverse experience.

"Please can you do a show on the side effects of the Mirena IUD. Up until three weeks ago I thought I was losing my mind. I couldn't understand so many changes in me, namely: incredible mood swings, weight gain, exhaustion, abdominal bloating, acne, feeling really down, constipation, memory loss, hair growth on my face!

Three weeks ago I started doing some research on the net and hit on numerous forums where I discovered there are many women out there with the same side effects due to the Mirena. Some ladies are suicidal - how horrendous! The manufacturers continue to sell this and claim 90% of women are happy with this contraception. I was also happy with the Mirena - I just did not know that all the above symptoms were linked to the Mirena along with thousands of women out there feeling the same and not linking the two! Please read on the below forums, you will be astounded:
