Hi Bigguy
Thank you for your question about pains in the legs and joints after playing basketball.
What I am picking up on is a weakness in your body tone, posture and a little bit of a question about your body weight.
I have given your condition a little bit of thought over the last few days and the suggestions that are coming up for you are:
Consider joining one of the advanced yoga classes, which does either Ashtanga Yoga or Power Yoga. If you have not done Yoga before you may need to build up to these classes. The Ashtanga Yoga classes are designed to give you good muscle tone and inner strength and stamina. The increased flexibility and joint movements will also increase your speed of movement on the basketball court.
Consider practicing Pilates Yoga this is a more subtle form of yoga that is used a lot by dance students to gain body awareness, flexibility and lightness and flow of movement.
The above two systems of Yoga will combine to build up your body awareness and flow of movement. You will grow in lightness of step and become very aware on many levels thus avoiding injury and accidents.
The increase in muscle tone and flexibility will greatly reduce the pain in both the joints and muscles. This is a long-term cure and will involve you in this extra personal development on your part, but within three to six months you will really start to notice the benefits of these two practices.
