Not that I am seriously considering it (I probably should if it could put an end to procrastination). As a teenager, I had a strong fear of heights, but one day I was helping my friends clean their boat and they all took turns putting tar on the ropes at the top of the mast. When they got tired, I was asked to fill in for them and get over my fear. After some coaxing, I went up and conquered my fear (no hypnosis, just determination).
but procrastination is another challenge (character flaw, it depends on your point of view).

There are no side effects. Hypnosis is simply a combination of concentration, imagination and relaxation - just a strongly relaxed focus. The danger/mystery aspect is folklore, based on fear of the unknown. Hypnosis uses the mind which is powerful, but cannot hurt and cannot cause you to do something that is outside the bounds of your moral values. People have refused suggestions and censored information while under hypnosis. So in short, I guess no NEGATIVE side effects is what I meant to say.
I personally see being a literate green pig as a very positive side effect! ;-)
I just got out of a lifelong Depression about a year and a half to 2 years ago, but I'm still trying to learn to relax (probably philosophical cynicism or something). Maybe I'll try one of those CDs with soothing sound. Any recommendations? I'm in no hurry for now, just a thought.
First of all, congrats! Some people with long standing Depression "give up" believing that it is biologically determined for life so I'm glad for you that you didn't get stuck in that convenient way of thinking and found your way out. Cheers!
And yes, I do have a recommendation. Google Brian Weiss and check out his CD's. He has regression hypnosis CD's - not sure if regression gels with your personal theology (i.e. past lives) but he also has relaxation CD's and healing CD's. Basically the separate CD's will walk you through a different relaxing scene and each one has a slightly different theme. I love the spiritual message in his books as well... that may be for you or not. I don't have other's specifically that I recommend. Maybe some others can chime in as well. See you around the forums.
