The previous posting is solid advice.
I'd suggest that she try to support her pancreas right now. With no gallbladder, her pancreas has to produce more digestive enzymes to make up for the low but constant dribble of bile from the liver.
When food first passes from the stomach to the small intestine, it activates the gallbladder (which is not there, in her case) to dump stored, concentrated bile into the small intestines to digest fats and meat. At the same time - the tubes are wrapped together and so both organs are stimulated simultaneously - the pancreas is stimulated to produce digestive enzymes to help the digestion of food. In a healthy person with a gallbladder, they work in concert to digest food properly. In a person missing their gallbladder (or never having had a functional gallbladder) the pancreas is stimulated to produce more enzymes. Over time, the pancreas can get worn out, compromising it's ability to produce the hormone, insulin. This raises the possibility of Diabetes Type II.
To support her pancreas, she should consider taking the following two supplements:
1. Digestive Enzymes (especially lipase, which digests fats)
2. Probiotics (friendly bacteria which also help in digestion and protect the digestive tract).
A third possibility: She should look into taking oxbile supplements whenever she eats a fatty meal. They are cheap. One oxbile capsule taken at the beginning of the meal will provide a source of bile to aid the pancreas' secretions in digesting fats. Timing is important: It should be consumed no more than 20 minutes before the actual intake of animal fats or other fats. Otherwise, the oxbile might make her bilious - cranky and irritated.
A final thing to consider, once her digestion gets some support, is a kidney cleanse. The kidneys excrete by-products of protein metabolism, and might be under strain with compromised protein digestion. A real mild, easy-to-use tea is Banaba tea (recently reposted on my behalf by Jessesmom). It's cheap, at least my online source is, tastes like green tea, and works to dissolve kidneys stones and support the immune system as it works to kill off any infections in the kidney, bladder and urethra areas. Banaba tea has also been used in studies to prevent the onset of Diabetes II and reverse early stage Diabetes II, and also to support the bodies of those who have had Diabetes II for some time. It acts like a vegetable-source insulin-type agent.
Hope she recovers soon. It's no fun being too sick to eat.
