This is a tricky area, and different people have different opinions on it. Here are some general guidelines.
Any type of detox will put a strain on one's adrenals in the short run. Generally, one should wait until one's adrenals are strong and stable before beginning a detox program. Detox will also reduce the strain on one's adrenals in the long run, and can be an important part of one's recovery from adrenal fatigue.
It's best to begin a detox program by eating a healthy, high-fiber diet. This will actually reduce the strain on one's adrenals. The next step is colon cleansing. This will put a mild strain on adrenals. After that, the next step is kidney cleansing, which puts more of a strain on the adrenals. Finally, Liver Cleansing (such as taking milk thistle or doing liver flushes) puts the biggest strain on the adrenals. It should only be done after one has cleansed the colon and kidneys.
