How to cure a breast fed infant with constipation (17 days)? Lactation specialist says no reason for concern until 23 days, should there be concern? She is 3 months and has had all shots. A month ago she had dbl. ear infection and on antibiotics.

Bowel movement in newborns (up to six months old)
It is equally normal for a young baby to have a bowel movement several times a day or as little as once a week. In rare cases, there can be up to three weeks between bowel movements.
A baby who is constipated often has colic pains, because the large amount of stool in the intestines makes the intestines dilate. In some cases, the child may not want to eat and may even retch a little.
What you can do to treat the constipation:
Massage your baby's tummy
Start at the belly button and then massage outwards in circles in a clockwise direction. Some oil or cream on your fingers can also help. Only continue if your baby enjoys the massage and is comfortable and relaxed.
Move your baby's legs in a cycling motion. Place your baby so he or she is lying on their back. Hold their legs and turn them gently in a quick cycling motion. This will make the stomach muscles move and, in turn, put gentle pressure on the intestines to make them move.
Give your baby a bath
A warm bath can make your baby relax so the stools are passed more easily. Once your baby has relaxed in the bath, you can also massage their stomach (see above).
When you wash your baby's bottom, apply some cream or petroleum jelly (Vaseline) around the outside of the anus.
Don't use a thermometer to stimulate movement
Don't put a thermometer or anything else inside your baby's anus to stimulate bowel movement, because this may cause damage.

A babies liver is not fully developed until they are at least six months old. vaccinations put a lot of strain on an infant's immune system. Doctors say they can't explain why your child is having ear infections and constipation but my guess is that they do know...
When my daughter had a severe reaction to vaccines, the doctor said the vaccines had nothing to do with her throwing herself on the ground and hitting her head and screaming when we walked out of the doctor's office. They know it is a little lie but they believe it is for the greater good...or so they say...
I would at a minimum stop vaccinating until your child's immune system is back to normal.
Once upon a time, doctors would not give infants vaccinations until they were older but these days there are so many vaccines introduced to children that they have to start at birth to get them all in. Anyway, if my child were constipated, I would introduce a little Sea Salt into a bottle of apple juice to get their system back to normal.
Educating yourself about vaccinations might at least help you make informed decisions about when and if you will stay on the vaccination schedule.

I have had good luck with Celtic Sea Salt as far as increasing the amounts of stools I have been having.
